The demand for polyester is increasing from year to year. In the context of increasing raw material prices and environmental standards, the value of polyester becomes clear and so does the recycling potential it offers. PET recycling is therefore not only important from an ecological aspect, but also offers increasing economic benefits.

We offer various processes and systems for recycling PET. Our components, such as extruders and filters, which have been optimized to meet the demanding requirements of recycling, can be put together in modular form for a wide variety of applications. FAQ about the recycling of PET

Why are polymer recycling solutions becoming increasingly relevant?

Due to the increasing awareness of plastic materials regarding the resulting environmental pollution, solutions for recycling of polymers are becoming more and more important in politics, economy as well as society.

Recycling fundamentally refers to the return of residual and waste materials to the production cycle – in our case the recovery of polyester and the subsequent further processing into new end products.

Due to the versatile application possibilities, the demand for polyester is continuously increasing. However, the increasing use results in equally increasing amounts of waste. With our polymer recycling solutions, waste can be reliably recycled through reprocessing, thus optimizing the entire value chain. After being reprocessed, the polymers can be reliably recycled into diverse end products.

Which raw materials can be recycled using plants from BBE?

The VacuFil® recycling system can handle a range of post-production and post-consumer polyester waste.

  • Start-up lumps
  • Spinning and textile waste
  • Packaging waste like bottles, trays, films

The VarioFil® R+ spinning plant is capable of spinning bottle flakes directly into recycled polyester yarn, while VarioFil® R processes rPET chips.

What are the downstream processing options for recycled PET?

There is a variety of options for further processing or reuse for recycled PET. With VacuFil®, you have the option of pelletizing the rPET melt or feeding it into your main melt stream for direct further processing. For example, we offer a configuration of VacuFil® with a connected VarioFil® spinning system, so that new yarn (POY) is directly produced from the recycled PET melt. Many other applications are also conceivable. By mixing in higher-viscosity bottle flakes, even lower-quality PET waste can be returned to its original application. Color injection in the melt by means of 3DD mixers saves valuable resources compared to subsequent bath dyeing.
